Uiko

Hello! I'm Uiko. I was born in the east part of Hiroshima Prefecture and raised in Hiroshima City which is a symbol of peace and Matsuyama City, Ehime Prefecture which is famous for haiku poetry and one of the oldest hot springs in Japan. The Shimanami Road bridges these two prefectures between Onomichi and Imabari connecting small islands in the Seto Inland Sea. I love traveling and music. I have been practicing the piano. My favorite pianists are Glenn Gould, Bill Evans and Keith Jarrett. I wish I can play Bach Well-Tempered Clavier Collection some day. I have explored historical ruins such as Petra in Jordan, Delphi in Greece and Angkor Wat in Cambodia. When I travel abroad, I try to appreciate music and theatrical arts in each country. The BBC PROM at the Royal Albert Hall in London, Spanish flamenco guitar and dance performances at the Catalunya Music Hall in Barcelona, and a classical Chinese opera in Beijing are fond memories for me. I have learned tea ceremony and been interested in Japanese performing arts such as Kabuki, Noh, Kyogen and Bunraku. The north part of Hiroshima Prefecture is famous for dynamic kagura or ancient Shinto music and dancing. You can enjoy kagura performances in Hiroshima City as well. It must be your once in a lifetime experience! Through touring Hiroshima's two UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Sites, I would like to share Miyajima's natural beauty and Hiroshima's sincere hope for world peace with you. I am looking forward to seeing you!
